Make Learning Irresistible
The WEA is facing an uncertain future as government has decided to end its funding relationship with us.
Since 1910 we have been providing community based education which is recognised for the friendliness of its classes, the quality of the teaching and the support that every learner receives. This is not just our opinion it is what the Education Inspectorate found during our last inspection.
The WEA provides around 6,000 learners every year with qualifications and a learning experience that fills a real need. Our courses are regulated to ensure they fit with the needs of the Northern Ireland economy, reach all our most disadvantaged communities and provide people who had a poor experience of education at school a route back into learning.
We need your support to help continue this work.
Here's what you can do.
1. Send our campaign postcard by email to Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Employment and Learning. Feel free to personalise your email - outlining why learning is important to you and your community and why education funding spending should be maintained. Make sure to add your name to the bottom of the email. (NB. The email will be cc'd to the WEA for the campaign's records). Anyone can get involved with this campaign and you do not need to be a current or past WEA learner to get involved in the campaign - after all this affects everyone.
