TOP NOTES - a music project for older people has been running all term with great success.

TOP NOTES was officially launched as part of Age Awareness Week at the end of September and began with great excitement on 12th and 13th of October.

The project is divided into several parts; there is a singing programme, a musicians programme and a songwriting programme, combining all the elements of creating music. The project has an intergenerational aspect to it as all the tutors are young musicians and singers aged mainly in their 20s, all who play professionally in bands. They also bring a great wealth of music tutition with them.  The older particpants range from early 50's to their 80's. The participants on the musicians programme have found the sessions "very informative".

The singers are "learning so much and we are having a ball doing it" Aideen WEA Tutor (pictured below) shows the group some breathing techniques.

Paddy Nash will be commencing the Song Writing Programme in early January starting on 10th at the WEA in Magazine Studios.

All the programmes will culminate towards a small celebration in January at the Verbal Arts Centre. Finally, the project will fnish with some music workshops in schools with chidlren, youth and the older participants.
