"two small words"
City of Culture Office
Northern Counties Building, Waterloo Place, Derry.Londonderry
The exhibition "two small words" has been installed in the City of Culture Offices in the Northern Counties Building in Waterloo Street, Derry.Londonderry after a very successful run in the Void Gallery during Age Awareness Week. "two small words" is an exhibition of photographs from older learner's participating in the WEA CAP Project which celebrates and gives thanks for the unsung work and contributions to society that older individuals make in their own community
The exhibition was funded by Age NI and The Atlantic Philanthropies through the CAP Programme and explores the subject of "Recognition"; the overall theme for this year's Age Awareness Week and is entitled "two small words" which are of course "thank you". The work says thank you for the care and support that older people give to others, for looking after the grandchildren, for acts of kindness, for our local heroes, for the voluntary support older people give, that helps sustain community groups to continue their good work. And ultimately thanks for the continuing health and wellbeing of older people that they can participate actively in society and give recognition to them as artists, explorers, musicians, sports men and women. To older individuals who continue to inspire us...
.......simply thank you.
It will remain in the City of Culture office until further notice so it is another good opportunity to view the work and encourage others to see the exhibition. Please note that unfortunately there was not scope to show the U3A Digital Projection this time.
Exhibition open to general public:
Opening Hours Monday – Saturday 9:00am – 5.30pm Sunday 1.00pm – 5.30pm
