“two small words” is an exhibition of photographs from older learner’s participating in the WEA CAP Project which celebrates and gives thanks for the unsung work and contributions to society that older individuals make in their own community. The exhibition has been funded by Age NI and The Atlantic Philanthropies through the CAP Programme and will open on Tuesday 28th September to celebrate Age Awareness Week.
The exhibition explores the subject of “Recognition”; the overall theme for this year’s Age Awareness Week and is entitled “two small words” which are of course “thank you”. The work says thank you for the care and support that older people give to others, for looking after the grandchildren, for acts of kindness, for our local heroes, for the voluntary support older people give, that helps sustain community groups to continue their good work. And ultimately thanks for the continuing health and wellbeing of older people that they can participate actively in society and give recognition to them as artists, explorers, musicians, sports men and women. To older individuals who continue to inspire us…
…….simply thank you. The participants have worked with a professional photographer; Emmett McSheffrey on the project. The exhibition will run from Tuesday 28th September – Tuesday 5th October at the Void Gallery, Launch: Tuesday 28th September @ 1pm -- With light refreshmentsPlease RSVP: WEA 02871 369947 or email sinead.devine@wea-ni.com
