Workers’ Educational Association & Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company “VIEWS FROM THE HILL”
A New Dance Piece Performed by the Body Wisdom Group Body Wisdom began in 2009 as part of the Learning Age Project. It offered olderpeople the opportunity to work with a professional dance company Echo Echobased in Derry.Londonderry. The project focused on the wisdom and experiencewritten into the bones, muscles and sinews of older people and being older wasseen to be a positive advantage rather than emphasis being on athleticism. Lastyear the group developed a beautiful piece entitled “Mapping Memories” whichplayed to a packed audience in the Foyle Arts Dance Studio at UU Magee. Newfunding from the BBC Performing Arts Fund offered the project the opportunity todevelop a new dance performance piece. The result is the stunning “Views fromthe Hill,” inspired by the participant’s memories of visits to the Grianan of Aileach.Accompanied by a specially commissioned music score, written and performed by Christopher Norby. This performance is directed by Steve Batts, Artistic Director ofEcho Echo Dance Theatre Company. @ Millennium Forum Studios
