Groups that have been a part of the Learning Age Project yesterday gave the thumbs up to Derry/Londonderry's City of Culture Bid. LAP groups were invited on 28th April to the Guildhall by Derry City Council to participate in a consultation process for older people as part of the
LAP Members animating the Bidding Office Window Noelle McAlinden listened to the groups as they impressed her with details of their own arts activities. When asked for ideas to help animate the space in the bidding office, or to how older people could help contibute to advertising the bid, she was inundated with wonderful activities, one of which actually took place the following day.
The groups were very adamant that as older members of the City, they still have something very vital to contribute to the City of Culture. The groups have been encouraged to put forward their stories in the booth at the bidding office. It is hoped that the two LAP Digital Storytelling projects could also contribute to this before the final bid on 21st May. Groups that were not present will be encouraged just to make a visit to the office and let their ideas and voices be heard. Our two LAP drama groups in the city have been promised window space to help advertise their own drama shows, one which actually takes place on the final bid day on 21st May.
