New Equality Diversity and Conflict Management Course gets off the Ground.

In May at Groundwork NI the WEA in partnership with Mediation N.I. and Belfast Interface Project rolled out the first of our new course runs in Equality Diversity and Conflict Management.

A total of twenty participants took part in the course, all from a range of very diverse backgrounds and political perspectives; indeed some of the participants described being part of the group as a diversity experience in itself.

The course ran a total of six days with the full support and commitment from the participants to learn, explore and debate difference and to be challenged   at a personal and organisational level.

The group contained within it a wealth of experiential learning the sharing of this knowledge within the group complemented the course content with a natural richness of genuine diversity. All the participants can now look forward to their certificates having successfully submitted their course portfolios.

Very positive relationships friendships and networks were formed through the duration of the six weeks.  Many of these may prove to be vital links in the future which will enhance the development of good practice at community and organisational level.

As a trainer I consider the contact with the group and within the group to be one that enriches everyone’s learning and is invaluable as we move forward into a society that recognises equality and diversity to be central to the development of a healthy vibrant community.
