At the third Taster Session, Nikki Terlik and Rachel Hutchinson described their professional journeys so far and showed participants examples of their work. Both Nikki and Rachel talked about the importance of connecting with other Creative Industries and how they find this interaction to be so essential for their work.

Nikki Terlik and Rachel Hutchinson show some of their workNikki spoke about the implications of juggling the responsibilities of family with her business and how this makes life particularly hectic. She explained that she has also diversified in a range of creative activities, such as tutoring, making and selling. Nikki, like the other speakers, also emphasized the importance of business related skills when working with clients and traders and how these are very different to the skills involved in making.

Rachel explained how her journey has been quite different but she has also accumulated a range of experience which has built up to this point. This has included commercial design, going through the Invest Northern Ireland Start a Business programme and she now works mostly in private commissions.

A presentation was also made at the start of the session by Declan Campbell who outlined the work of Craft NI, their designers and website.
