The Older People Learning project managed by Carolyn Hale has recently proved very successful. The students have been busy lately working with their tutor (Eamon McCrossan) on their creative writing and one such piece - a poem - entitled Eamon by Betsy Quinn, caught our attention and we thought it was good enough to publish on our website. Please read on ...
EamonThe last six weeks we've spent with you Have been a great success, We've tried creative writing And given of our best.
Your gentle, easy manner Has helped us to relax, Venture down the literary road And try the poetic track.
We were transported for a while, And left our worries behind, Were able to forget our cares And reach a happier state of mind.
Recalling golden days of yore And sharing things we treasure Brought a sense of openness Which nurtured it's own pleasure.
The city tour on the open topped bus Was a day we'll all remember, Even the weather was beautiful, Considering it was November.
We wish you luck in all you do, And hope we'll meet again. 'Til then success be with you, And happiness dear friend.
