| Outstanding WEA learner scoops national award |

WEA learner Margaret McManus has won a coveted ASET Learner of the Year 2007 award. Margaret will be presented with her award at a special ceremony in the New Year.Margaret successfully completed a Personal Safety Awareness course with the WEA. Her WEA tutor Hazel Hicks who nominated her for the award explains why she is such a deserving winner. "Margaret was an outstanding student on the course. She was, and continues to be, an inspiration to others. She overcame many challenges to complete the course and thoroughly deserves this award." Margaret now intends to take part in further courses to improve her personal and life skills. Already her confidence, motivation and problem solving skills have improved and she feels better equipped to take on new challenges. WEA Director Stevie Johnston expressed his delight at a WEA learner winning this national award. "Margaret is a worthy winner having overcome many challenges to complete the course and inspiring others to follow her. This is also further evidence of the excellent learning opportunities provided by the WEA."
