Clients from AMH New Horizons in Newtownards celebrated their many achievements at a special awards ceremony recently.
AMH Action Mental Health works to improve the health and well-being of people with mental health needs or learning disabilities, by creating opportunities towards independence and employment. Selwyn Johnston, from AMH commented, “We very much value the partnership we are developing with WEA. It enables us to provide our clients with new and interesting training opportunities, delivered by talented and professional tutors.”
WEA Director Stevie Johnston said, “Working with Action Mental Health enables the WEA to work with those people who we really want to reach out to. The supportive environment of New Horizons helps the participants make the all important first steps back into learning. The WEA are delighted to be able to offer courses to these learners and to see the immediate difference it makes to their lives”. |

Certificates were presented by Stevie Johnston, WEA Director, for a range of courses delivered by WEA tutors in the Ards unit. During the year, clients have successfully gained qualifications in areas such as essential skills, tiffany glass, drawing, painting and photography. It was also an opportunity for clients to showcase their work, and for the WEA to further develop their relationship with AMH.
