Clients from AMH Accept in Derriaghy celebrated at a special awards ceremony today. Certificates were presented by Carole Kane, WEA Development Officer, for successfully completing a craft course delivered by the WEA at the AMH unit. It was also an opportunity for clients to showcase their work, and for the WEA to further develop their relationship with AMH. AMH (Action Mental Health) works to improve the health and well-being of people with mental health needs or learning disabilities, by creating opportunities towards independence and employment. Nadya MacLynn, from AMH commented, “We very much value the partnership we are developing with WEA. It enables us to provide our clients with new and interesting training opportunities, delivered by talented and professional tutors.”
Carole Kane, WEA Development Officer said, “Working with AMH enables the WEA to work with those people who we really want to reach out to. The supportive environment of Accept helps the participants make the all important first steps back into learning. The WEA are delighted to be able to offer courses to these learners and to see the immediate difference it makes to their lives”. |
